对比:at church 与 in church#
|---|---|---|
| at church / in church | 在做礼拜 | They're at church. They're in church. |
| go to church | 去做礼拜 | How often do you go to church? |
| the church / a church | 教堂这座建筑 | There are two apple trees behind the church. |
at 和 in、on 的区别在于 at 带着“和这个地方有实际关系”的意思,所以做礼拜的人 is at church,游客 is in the church(在教堂里面)。
对比:over 与 above#
|---|---|---|---|
| 在上方(不接触) | 可以 | 可以 | The lamp is over / above the table. |
| 从一边越过到另一边 | 可以 | 不用 | The boy jumped over the apple basket. |
| 覆盖在上面 | 可以 | 不用 | Put a cloth over the apples.
| 多于:跟数字、年龄、钱、时间 | 常用 | 不常用 | The apples cost over twenty yuan.
用法依据:Oxford Learner's: above、over;剑桥英汉词典:above、over。本义依据:etymonline: over、above。
对比:across 与 through#
|---|---|---|---|
| across | from one side to the other side of something
field、street、river、page | We walked across the street to buy apples. |
| through | from one end or side of something to the other
window、gate、tunnel | The apple truck went through the tunnel.
(There's a fruit shop across the street. (I saw the apple tree through the window.
用法依据:Oxford Learner's: across、through;剑桥英汉词典:across、through。本义依据:etymonline: across、through。
对比:时间 in、on、at#
时间轴上的一个点就用 at | at 7 o'clock、at dawn、at night、at the end of the week | I eat an apple at 7 o'clock.
一段较长的时间像一个范围,事情落在里面 | in 2021、in March、in autumn、in the morning | Apples are cheap in October. |
| on | 某一天、某天的上午或晚上 | 说某一天或某个日期,用 on | on Sunday、on May 1st、on my birthday、on the evening of May 1st | We buy apples on Sundays.
- in the morning(在上午)用 in,但具体到某一天的上午就用 on:on the morning of May 1st(五月一日上午)。只要说的是具体哪一天,哪怕只是那天的一部分,就按“某一天”用 on,比如 on the evening of May the first(五月一日晚上)。
- “在周末”:at the weekend 是英式说法,on the weekend 主要是北美说法,两种都对。this weekend、next weekend、last weekend We will pick apples this weekend.
Oxford Learner's: at、on、in、weekend。本义依据:etymonline: at、in、on。
对比:between 与 among#
|---|---|---|
| between | 两个分开的对象之间 | The apple is between the two baskets. |
| 多于两个,但每个都分得清 | Divide the apples between Tom, Lily and Lucy. | |
| among | 在一群当中,被围着 | There is a small house among the apple trees. |
| 属于这一群里的一个 | Apples are among my favourite fruits.
用法依据:剑桥英汉词典:between、among;Oxford Learner's: between、among。本义依据:etymonline: between、among。
